Professor of Health Sciences, Simon Fraser University
I’m a Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. I have been conducting research in the prevention and management of heart disease for over 20 years focusing on supporting healthy lifestyles and improving access to timely health care. I hold the Pfizer/Heart and Stroke Foundation Chair in Cardiovascular Prevention Research at St. Paul’s Hospital and I am also a member of the Division of Cardiology at St. Paul’s Hospital. In February 2017, I was diagnosed with heart disease which added a new personal perspective to my research and greater understanding of the challenges patients face on a daily basis.
