Qualified in medicine (MBBS) from Kings College Hospital Medical & Dental School, University of London 1984. Also a first class BSc (Hons) in physiology 1980. Trained as a surgeon (FRCS (Lond)) and specialising in plastic surgery (FRCS(plast.)). A consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon in NHS Wales for 20 years. Became executive medical director and chief information officer for a large integrated Health Board in Wales (£1.3Bn turnover, 17,000 staff). Masters level diploma in Organisational Leadership from Said Business School, Oxford University in 2012 with distinction, Awarded senior fellowship of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (SFFMLM) for contribution to healthcare leadership in the UK. Now full-time chair of Enhanced Innovation, Engagement and Outcomes, School of Management, Swansea University since 2018. Chair for the Digital Inclusion Alliance for Wales.
