Michaela Hruskova

PhD Researcher in Management Adam Smith School of Business, University of Glasgow
Michaela Hruskova is a PhD Researcher in Management in the Adam Smith Business School at the University of Glasgow. In her doctoral research, funded by the ESRC, she is studying the governance of the local entrepreneurial ecosystem in Scotland. Her conceptual paper on the governance of ecosystems won the Best Paper Award in the Entrepreneurial Governance track at the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship 2019 conference.

Prior to her PhD, Michaela completed an MRes in Management and an MA in Business and Management, both at the University of Glasgow. Her previous research includes mapping out entrepreneurship support organisations in Glasgow and studying the role of gender in how business angels evaluate investment opportunities. In recent years, she has worked at multiple entrepreneurship support organisations in the Scottish ecosystem which inspired her current research project.

Michaela also has extensive teaching experience. She delivers employability workshops to students in the social sciences, teaches undergraduate and postgraduate entrepreneurship seminars and tutorials as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, and facilitates peer-led skills development workshops for fellow PhD researchers at the University of Glasgow.

Outside of her PhD, Michaela is the Director of a local award-winning Startup Grind chapter at the University of Glasgow which aims to educate, inspire, and connect entrepreneurially-minded students and staff. She hosts monthly networking events where she interviews local entrepreneurs.

Most recently, she was named as one of 30 Under 30 Inspiring Women in Scotland by the Young Women's Movement and a University of Glasgow Future World Changer.
