The Xiaomi Mi 11 has been expected as the first Android smartphone to launch with the Snapdragon 888 chip that was unveiled just earlier this month. The device’s official announcement before the end of the year had been confirmed as the company teased an event happening next week.
Xiaomi Mi 11 release date set before 2020 ends
A teaser image was posted by Xiaomi on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo on Tuesday. It only contains the number 11 in very large font along with a short message announcing an event on Monday, Dec. 28, 7:30 p.m. CST (6:30 a.m. ET / 3:30 a.m. PT).
Considering that the number 11 is prominently placed in the said teaser image, it is undoubtedly hinting at the official launch of the Xiaomi Mi 11 series. Android Authority also reported that Xiaomi has started accepting pre-bookings in China for the smartphone.
However, it is worth noting that the Xiaomi Mi 11 launch has yet to be announced or teased on other Xiaomi pages for the international pages. It is then very likely that the device will not launch this month in territories outside China.

A world debut for Xiaomi Mi 11 was already confirmed, though. Xiaomi welcomed the unveiling of the Snapdragon 888 chip earlier this month with a teaser for the upcoming smartphone. Fans in other regions should then wait for further announcements after Dec. 28.
Xiaomi Mi 11 specs: Here’s what to expect
A Geekbench 5 score was also spotted for a device identified as Xiaomi M2011K2C, which is believed to be referring to the Xiaomi Mi 11. It scored 1,135 in single-core and 3,642 in multi-core with 11.01 GB of memory. That is a substantial improvement from the performance of the base model Mi 10, which shipped with Snapdragon 865 earlier this year.
That power boost can be attributed to the Snapdragon 888. The document also indicates that the Xiaomi Mi 11 could be launched with a 12GB RAM variant.
Various reports in recent weeks also suggest that the curved display panel could be maintained for the Xiaomi Mi 11. The lineup is expected to launch with at least 2 models, a base variant and a Pro version, that are both speculated to receive a 120Hz refresh rate upgrade.
