With the ruckus and excitement of the release of the new installment of the movie franchise Star Wars, it is not impossible to wonder if Harrison Ford would still reprise his titular role as Indiana Jones in the upcoming film Indiana Jones 5.
Although the topic of the film is not as hot as the new episode of Star Wars, fans wouldn't be disappointed for Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy hinted that they might continue the franchise. Many questions arise though as to who would play Indiana Jones in its fifth installment knowing that Harrison Ford is in his prime age of 73. Let's face it though, Harrison Ford is Harrison Ford. No one can play him better than himself. The actor himself, in an Entertainment Weekly interview, gamely answered that he still is open to playing Indy.
But what would the fans feel if another younger actor is to play the said role? One speculation is that of the franchise having to undergo a reboot and recast Jurassic World's Chris Pratt as the new Indiana Jones. But it seems that this may not be possible with Steven Spielberg squashing the idea. Spielberg, in his interview with Screen Daily, asserted that an iconic role like that of Indy will never be given enough justice unless it is played by Ford. Indiana Jones producer Frank Marshall also showed his insights about the idea of having a reboot, saying "Not doing the Bond thing where were going to call somebody else Indiana Jones...we have to figure this out".
Now this could be good news for the fans out there. With Ford juggling his time promoting his latest film, Star Wars VII, and Spielberg currently filming his latest projects, there could still be changes though. What about you? Who do you want to play the iconic globe trotting adventurer and archaeologist?
