U.S. President Donald Trump praised a new Gaza hostages-for-ceasefire agreement brokered in Egypt, calling it “a great day for the world.” In a brief interview with Reuters on Wednesday, Trump emphasized the global unity behind the deal, noting that countries around the world—including Israel—had come together to support the ceasefire effort.
“The whole world has come together on this one, Israel, every country has come together. This has been a fantastic day,” Trump said during the call. He described the agreement as a historic and unifying moment, highlighting its significance not only for the Middle East but also for global peace efforts.
“This is a great day for the world. This is a wonderful day, a wonderful day for everybody,” he added, expressing optimism that the deal would bring long-awaited stability to the region.
The Egypt-mediated agreement reportedly aims to secure the release of hostages in exchange for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, a development that has drawn international attention amid months of escalating conflict in Gaza. Global leaders have praised the breakthrough, viewing it as a crucial step toward reducing tensions and opening the door to renewed peace negotiations.
Analysts suggest that the deal could mark a turning point in the prolonged conflict, potentially restoring a measure of calm and paving the way for diplomatic discussions on a more lasting resolution. With major nations expressing support, the agreement underscores a rare moment of consensus in international diplomacy.
Trump’s remarks reflect a tone of triumph and relief, aligning with global hopes that this ceasefire could serve as a foundation for a more stable and peaceful future in the Middle East.
