“Toy Story 4” will be hitting theatres on June 21 and it’s expected that the film will tug the heartstrings of audiences similar to what its three predecessors have done. Woody (Tom Hanks) Buzz (Tim Allen) and the rest of the gang will be going on a new adventure that will be kickstarted by an unusual toy, THR reported.
Simply called as Forky (Tony Hale), the walking-talking spork will have an identity crisis that will spur him to abandon Bonnie (Emily Hahn). Woody, being protective as ever, tried to convince Forky to return to Bonnie as he’s currently the most important toy for the child having created him herself. But a series of events in “Toy Story 4” will have Woody questioning his place in the world, especially after he’s reunited with Bo Peep (Annie Potts).
As expected, the upcoming film will be featuring new toys into the fold, one of which is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves). Speaking of which, Reeves landing the role of Caboom for “Toy Story 4” is quite interesting on account that the director and producers did a blind audio test to determine who they’ll cast, EW reported.
Director Josh Cooley said that upon hearing Reeves’ tape, they immediately knew they wanted to include him in the cast of “Toy Story 4.” And upon learning that it was the “John Wick” actor, their enthusiasm took new heights. For his part, Reeves’ commitment with the character was apparent from the get-go as Cooley said the actor wanted to know more about Caboom other than the general description of the toy. After enough information was fed to “The Matrix” star, he then came up with the character’s penchant for striking poses.
Producer Mark Nielsen recalled Reeves climbing a table during lunchtime and began doing all these poses. Nielsen said that the behavior struck a chord in them, saying that they’ve found the signature move of Caboom that would make him stand out amidst the sprawling casts. Reeves’ involvement with “Toy Story 4” has only heightened the excitement of fans to see the film as the actor has become one of the most beloved icons in Hollywood as of late. He’s even partnered with CD Projekt Red and took the role of Johnny Silverhand for the much-anticipated “Cyberpunk 2077” that’s set for release in April 2020.
