“Toy Story” 4 is one of the most anticipated sequels for the franchise as the gang is headed to make new friends and adventures. Naturally, Pixar is keeping under wraps and even the trailer for the fourth installment doesn’t provide anything substantial.
What fans know so far is that a character named Forky (Tony Hale) will be one of the new toys to be highlighted. It seems that Forky is going through the same existential crisis that plagued Buzz (Woody Allen) in the first film. So in “Toy Story” 4, the gang will be helping Forky overcome this identity confusion by going through one last adventure into the world, SuperBroMovies reported.
Through their journey, they will wander into a carnival where they’ll meet two new characters: Ducky (Keegan-Michael Key) and Bunny (Jordan Peele). The gang’s adventure in “Toy Story” 4 will supposedly be filled with emotions that will surely tug at the heartstrings of the franchise’s following.
Allen already hinted at this fact when he spoke with ET Canada. “It is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big, the idea they’ve come up with, I’m startled. I couldn’t even get through the last scene. I would love to be a Washington leaker,” Allen gushed. While the actor’s statements are spelling positivity for “Toy Story” 4, everything isn’t as smooth behind the scene.
According to Collider, “Toy Story” 3 director Lee Unkrich has now parted ways with Pixar after working for the studio for 25 years. “I’m not leaving to make films at another studio; instead, I look forward to spending much-needed time with my family and pursuing interests that have long been back-burnered,” Unkrich said in a statement. Unkrich’s departure came after John Lasseter, the director for the first two films, was let go by Pixar on alleged sexual misconduct. It’s still unclear how these changes will affect “Toy Story” 4 but judging by Allen’s statements, it seems that the fourth installment will not take a hit. As for its release, Pixar announced it will be coming out this June although the studio hasn’t provided a specific date just yet.
