‘This Is Us’ season 1’s episode 11, titled "The Right Thing to Do," is set to feature Toby’s fate following his collapse in the preceding episode. Toby may have managed to win back his girlfriend Kate but he suffered a heart attack and had to get rushed to the hospital. The episode will also put focus on younger Jack and Rebecca back to the time they found out they were having triplets.
Episode 11 is set to pick up right after the events of episode 10, titled "Last Christmas," which ended in a cliffhanger. According to a recap posted on TV Guide, Toby (Chris Sullivan) visited Randall's (Sterling K. Brown) home all the way in New Jersey to surprise Kate (Chrissy Metz) and win her back. The two eventually got back together but Toby later collapsed and was rushed to a hospital to get operated on.
In the final moments of the episode, Toby’s heart monitor was seen flat lining as surgeons attempted to revive him. It remains unclear whether Kate’s boyfriend will make it out of the operation alive.
According to International Business Times, Metz addressed the cliffhanger saying, "Nobody wants him to be dead! Especially Kate. So we're praying for Toby, that's for sure… They just finally made an agreement to really, truly love each other... It just goes to show how quickly life can change and things can turn and you really have to be grateful for every moment; you really do."
During an interview with E! News, Milo Ventimiglia admitted hope for Toby saying, "No, he can't be off the show, but you gotta wait. You just gotta wait." Ventimiglia plays young Jack Pearson on the series.
Meanwhile, Mandy Moore revealed that the incoming episode will also put focus on her character Rebecca and Ventimiglia’s Jack. She teased, "We're going back in time and it's when we find out that we're having triplets, and we're not just having one baby, so chaos ensues from there, obviously… Our whole world is sort of flipped on its head."
‘This Is Us’ season 1’s episode 11, titled "The Right Thing to Do," is scheduled to air on NBC on January 10, 2017. It will be followed by episode 12, titled "The Big Day," scheduled for January 17.
