‘The Walking Dead’ season 7 is set to end differently from how it started as teased by showrunner Scott Gimple. It was speculated that Rick may finally get his revenge on Negan, who has been terrorizing Alexandria as well as other communities.
According to The Daily Star, Gimple revealed that season 7’s second half will have a different vibe compared to how it started. He said, "I will say the back eight's vibe is very different from the first eight's vibe. The ending is very different."
He continued, "Even with structure, what we're doing right now with the episodes and seeing where everyone is at, the structure is very, very different than the back half. There's a lot more variety to the structure."
Season 7 followed Rick (Andrew Lincoln) as he is put under a tremendous amount of torment under the regime of the notorious Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the series’ latest antagonist. It was revealed that Rick may finally get his revenge on the Saviors’ merciless leader.
According to Den of Geek, season 7’s mid-season finale episode ended with Rick realizing that he must stage a rebellion to end Negan’s tyranny over their interdependent communities. The ending of episode season 7’s episode 8, titled “Hearts Still Beating,” saw the main characters reuniting at Hilltop Colony. Daryl (Norman Reedus) also regained his freedom after being held captive in the Sanctuary as one of Negan’s slaves.
The series also gained controversy for its unrestrained use of gore and violence following Negan’s introduction in the show. Viewers aired their distaste on social media with many threatening to boycott the series. Despite lower ratings than previous seasons, the horror-drama television series remains one of the most popular shows at least according to numbers.
‘The Walking Dead’ season 7B is expected to return to AMC on February 12, 2017 in the United States and to Fox on February 13, 2017 in the UK.
