Early this week, episode and plot details for the second part of “The Walking Dead” Season 7 were revealed. NME said the details were released ahead of the zombie drama’s return to AMC this Sunday, February 12.
Based on the details and events that have unfolded in the first half of Season 7, there is a possibility that someone else will be standing in on behalf of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). Noel Murray for RollingStone wrote, “Let's be honest: The only thing worse than Rick Grimes making dumb decisions that get a lot of people killed is him spending nearly eight full episodes pouting and doing nothing.”
And with Daryl (norman Reedus) finishing a stint as Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) slave at the Sanctuary, Murray suggests that a now-stronger Maggie (Lauren Cohan) or Michonne (Danai Gurira) will probably take the reins and get the group to rally in their mission.
As for the tension between the group, the Kingdommers and the Saviors, executive producer Greg Nicatero hinted that there will be an epic battle coming to close the season finale.
“The violence in the premiere was pronounced for a reason. The awfulness of what happened to the characters was very specific to that episode and the beginning of this whole new story. I don’t think like that’s the base level of violence that necessarily should be on the show. It should be specific to a story and a purpose, and there was a purpose of traumatising these characters to a point where maybe they would have been docile for the rest of their lives, which was Negan’s point,” Nicatero said.
And if we’re basing it on the synopsis for episodes 12 and 13, we all should be expecting a war involving Rick and his group, the Kingdommers, and the Saviors.
In episode 2, Richard (Karl Makinen) antagonizing the Saviors to goad Ezekiel (Khary Payton) into rising against them, which resulted to a bloody beating. But a routine supply drop-off could change Ezekiel’s mind into joining forces with Rick to take down Negan and his gang.
