There were a lot of opinions expressed when 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.' first hit theatres, with many loving the film and others absolutely hating on it. Suffice it to say, it was not the most universally loved movie but it still has staunch defenders. The last update on the franchise suggests that “The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 2” is coming and that a script is being written. However, it will most likely forever be a dream.
While publications like OtakuKart might take the fact that a script is being written as confirmation that “The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 2” was coming, this is unlikely to be the case. To start with, it didn’t really perform all that well in the box office and its critical reception was not exactly stellar. Moviegoers simply did not take to it as well as the filmmakers might have hoped.
The film’s main man, Henry Cavill as Napoleon Solo has previously expressed wanting to do the film. However, it has been a while since any official word about “The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 2” was released. This is usually not a good sign since these days, any film that is confirmed to be in the making will at least have some form of social media update to keep fans informed.
As things stand, movie enthusiasts who want to see “The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 2” hit the big screen will either have to wait a very long time for the film or stop waiting altogether. Even if it does come start production this year, it likely won’t be available for a premiere until 2021.
So far, there has been no sign that this is going to be the case. In fact, rumors with regards to “The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 2” have gone quite cold, which in itself can be taken as a sign that this franchise is dead.
