Henry Cavill is in the headlines today after it was reported that he will be hanging up his cape and quit his role as the "Man of Steel." It is said that the actor is leaving DC’s "Superman" due to schedule conflicts and a failed deal with Warner Bros.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a source told them that Henry Cavill is parting ways with the studio so this will also close the door for his potential appearances in DC films as Superman. The British actor has played Clark Kent since 2013 and appeared in 2016's “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” in 2016 and “Justice League” in 2017.
When the news broke out earlier today, Warner Bros. issued a statement to address the reports. Part of the note reads: “We have a great relationship and great respect for Henry Cavill that continues to remain unchanged. Additionally, we have made no current decisions regarding any upcoming Superman films."
After the statement was released, Henry Cavill also somehow clarified the news with an update on Instagram. The actor posted a video but it is not clear if he is confirming or denying the news.
In the short clip, Henry Cavill is shown wearing a shirt with the words “Krypton Lifting Team” emblazoned on it. He stares at the camera and slowly lifts an action figure of Superman. He captioned the post with “Today was exciting #Superman.”
It is hard to interpret what Henry Cavill is trying to say but some fans believe that he is saying he is still in the game while others think he is blowing off steam as he will not be in Superman movies or shows anymore.
One commenter wrote, “You actually think he would post a video like this if he had left or was fired? No way.” The fan went on to say, “The reason his post was because @henrycavill finds it amusing that this is all blowing up and the media and everyone else are running with a story not based on actual facts.”
Finally, Henry Cavill's fans are behind him and stated that they will only believe the news if either Warner Bros. or his reps confirm it.
