More than two years since “The Elder Scrolls 6” was officially announced, nothing has been revealed yet about the upcoming game. It is then not surprising that fans are getting every possible clue they can get from Bethesda’s promo materials that might suggest what to expect from the anticipated title.
‘The Elder Scrolls 6’ gameplay set in Hammerfell?
The latest speculation about “The Elder Scrolls 6” centers around its potential main location and setting. This was sparked by a New Year greeting posted on the game series’ official Twitter page. An image showing a portion of the Tamriel map that is being weighed down by three candles.

Fans did not need much encouragement to start discussing the possibility that this simple New Year post could be hiding “The Elder Scrolls 6” Easter eggs. The emerging theory from this social media post is that the next game could be primarily set in the province of Hammerfell.
The candle on the left side of the picture, as several fans pointed out is interestingly placed just below the word “Hammerfell.” One fan commented, “The candle [in the] bottom left on Hammerfell seems very [suspicious].” More fans are also intrigued by the cryptic caption that accompanies the image as it reads, “Transcribe the past and map the future.” This prompts another fan to reply, “We see Hammerfell! The future?” It is also worth noting this is not the first time Hammerfell has been theorized as the potential main location for “The Elder Scrolls 6.”
Speculations about the gameplay and plot of “The Elder Scrolls 6” is unlikely to stop, especially with Bethesda continuing its silence about the game. While reading through detailed theories formulated by other fans can be fun, players should not forget to take them with a grain of salt.
‘The Elder Scrolls 6’ release date unlikely getting revealed soon
Bethesda has been clear about the “The Elder Scrolls 6” release date being far off into the future. While the next title has been in development, the studio is prioritizing the completion and launch of its new IP called “Starfield.” Both titles were announced in 2018, but even details about “Starfield” have yet to be officially revealed. So until “Starfield” arrives in the market, fans should not expect any release date announcement for the next game set in Tamriel.
