Season 2 of Netflix’s hit drama series “The Crown” will get more interesting, as reports have confirmed that the show will be featuring American royalty.
Variety said “Dexter” star Michael C. Hall has signed on to play the John F Kennedy, former US president. It is unclear how Hall’s character will be introduced in the series, but show creator Peter Morgan earlier stated to reporters that the show’s second season will end in 1964, of which he hints will be a new Britain.
Vanity Fair adds that Hall’s tv wife, Jackie, will be played by no other than South African actress Jodi Balfour. Jackie, according to the show creators, might find a friend in Claire Foy’s Queen Elizabeth II.
“(Jackie is) a seemingly natural First Lady, but whose charming exterior of confidence and glamour hides a shy woman who loathes public life,” they said.
The creators also said Hall’s JFK in the series will probably see a friend in Prince Philip (Matt Smith), saying, “(... Her husband is) a natural leader and excellent public speaker who does not take kindly to being upstaged by anyone, especially his wife. (JFK) feels unmanned by his wife’s popularity.”
The show will also portray the dynamic of one of the most powerful couples in American history, as JFK flaunts his many infidelities and his jealousy of his wife’s accomplishments.
Deadline said Season 2 is currently in production, and will start with soldiers in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, who are fighting an illegal war in Egypt. Matthew Goode will also star in the season as Tony Armstrong-Jones, Princess Margaret’s bohemian photographer husband.
