“The Catch” season 1 finale was intense to say the least, with a lot of the characters getting caught and at risk of spending years behind bars. Betrayals, manipulations and lies are all part of the game for the show, of course. However, a particularly maddening blunder of the two-hour segment which could have been avoided is Alice going back to get her things and getting caught.
Naturally, shows like “The Catch” depend on twists like this in order to keep the audience on their toes, so Alice getting arrested is just a part of the deal. Even so, it just seems like a rather stupid thing for a detective who is about to run away with a con artist to do. TVLine agrees as well.
However, it was quite fun to see how the backstabbing just went around and around throughout the dual episodes. Margot caused Alice to be arrested via anonymous tip to the FBI, Ben and Rhys betrayed Sybil which led to her getting arrested and Margot betrayed her mother so that she could become the Kensington Firm’s head.
Suffice it to say, watching the two-hour program was thrilling, with viewers never knowing just what will happen next. One of the more surprising developments include Ben admitting to the crime and taking all of the blame just so Alice would not get arrested since this essentially goes against his nature. One can suppose that this act has proven his love for Alice beyond all doubt, which only makes their separation more tragic.
The question now is whether or not Ben will go to jail and stay there or if Alice can come up with a plan to set him free. There’s also Margot to deal with who just made things personal. The good news is, according to TV Guide, the show has been green lit for a second season. So viewers won’t be left hanging.
“The Catch” will return for a second season on 2017 on ABC.
