‘Supernatural’ is nearing its season 11 finale and this time, it’s going to feature the battle to end all battles. This season has been building up towards the final showdown between God who turned out to be Chuck (Rob Benedict) and his sister Amara AKA “The Darkness” (Emily Swallow). Now, with the help of the Winchester brothers, God/Chuck will need to take on the mother of all evil.

When episode 21 ended, Castiel/Lucifer (Misha Collins) was rescued by Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) from Amara who captured and tortured him. Now, they will all need to pitch in so that God can take down Amara since it doesn’t seem like he will be able to do it on his own. He even said that he was going to sacrifice himself so that Amara will not destroy his creations; a decision that Dean predictably shot down, arguing that there was no guarantee that Amara would not destroy all of creation anyway.

So, the decision has been made to fight, but God will need more soldiers. To take on Amara, Lucifer will gather all of the angels to his side. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like angels will be enough. As a result, the gang will need to team up with the King of Hell, Crowley (Mark Sheppard) in order to bring demons along.

Then there’s the matter of actually finding Amara, which God again can’t seem to do. One has to wonder just what good God is in the “Supernatural” universe when he keeps running up against immovable obstacles.

In any case, viewers will have to wait and see what happens when episode 22 “We Happy Few” airs on May 18, on CW. On a related note, TVLine recently revealed that “Supernatural” is set for season 12, with Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb taking over for Jeremy Carver as the series’ showrunner.
