Sony Music Entertainment just signed a deal with the Stockholm-based music management and publishing firm recently. The partnership will allow the American company to provide more support for The Very Good’s catalog as well as broaden international opportunities for its songwriters.
The Very Good background
The Music Business Worldwide noted that The Very Good Publishing is part of The Very Good AB that was formerly known as Vivstilo. Jakob Emtestam founded the company in 2011, and with his hard work, it is now one of the best music management agencies in Scandinavia.
While the main firm is already a decade old, The Very Good subsidiary was only launched almost two years ago. It was established by the executives including Manne Björkman, Director of Operations; Holly Astera, vice president of Artists and Repertoire and Dan Karlström, partner and VP of A&R.
Popular songwriter-producers Julia Karlsson and Anton Rundberg have recently joined the company as well. It was added that before The Very Good publishing was launched, the main company helped seal a number of worldwide music song hits that were co-written by its roster of songwriters.
It was mentioned that these projects include hits by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello (“Señorita”), Rita Ora’s “Let You Love Me,” Zedd and Alessia Cara’s “Stay” and many more.
Some of the songwriters working at The Very Good Music are Hilda Stenmalm, Martin Stilling, Moa Pettersson Hammar, Rasmus Budny, Gustav Nyström, and Kristin Carpenter.
The expectations from the team up
Sony Music is looking forward to a great work relationship with The Very Good, and both companies are excited to collaborate on many projects ahead.
"The Very Good not only has a fantastic roster but is composed of a driven, professional creative team with a proactive approach that earns continued success,” Sony Music MD and Scandinavia and senior vice president Europe, Johnny Tennander, said in a press release. “We are honored and excited to welcome The Very Good to the Sony Music Publishing family."
Finally, The Very Good founder, Jakob Emtesta, said that joining forces with one of the best music companies in the world is a big push to help its songwriters shine even more. He said they are confident that this partnership will make the company stronger, so they are excited.
