Song Hye Kyo is one of South Korea’s most celebrated artists. She has a long list of blockbuster projects under her sleeve but despite her success, she managed to maintain a low profile celebrity life.

Song Hye Kyo was so frail when she was born
The 38-year-old was very sick when her mother gave birth to her. Her parents and doctors even thought that she will not survive so her birth date was registered late. She was born on Nov. 22, 1981, but with the belief that she will not make it for more than a week since birth, her family registered it on Feb. 26, 1982.
She was trained to be a figure skater
As per Soompi, Song Hye Kyo once dreamed of becoming an athlete so her mother allowed her to train to be a figure skater. She began training in elementary but quit in the eighth grade because she wants to pursue another dream which is modeling.
Modeling career in her teenage years
In 1996, when Hye Kyo was 14 years old, her mother listed her as a contestant in the SunKyung modeling contest and she won. Not long after that, offers for small supporting roles started coming in and this was how her career in showbusiness started.
She got her big break in 2000 after landing the leading role in the “Autumn in My Heart” drama series that paired her with Song Seung Heon. Since this show was also released in other countries and was a hit, Song Hye Kyo’s name became part of the Korean Wave, an era when people worldwide started take interest in Korean dramas and pop culture.
Hye Kyo is a multi-lingual speaker
Song Hye Kyo is one of the few South Korean celebrities who can speak several languages including English. To learn this language, she went to the U.S. and studied for two years. She is also fluent in Cantonese, Chinese and Japanese since she needs to learn them to act in foreign films.
