Snapchat is getting in on election fever by providing filters that make users look like Hillary Clinton as well as Geofilters indicating which side of the aisle the users fall on. The social media app has also launched Live Stories relating to Election Day, giving users a platform to voice their opinion on the election and its current state.
Anyone who wants to give the Clinton filter on Snapchat a whirl will be treated to a shimmery likeness of the Democratic candidate herself, complete with the iconic hairstyle and the pantsuit outfit. That shimmery part doesn’t just apply to the filter itself, however, as it goes with the tune as well. Turning on the volume will have users hear "shimmy, shimmy, shimmy, shimmy HRC” blaring from their devices, The Hollywood Reporter notes.
This is a great opportunity for supports of the Clinton campaign to show who they will be voting for in clear, colorful effect. It also helps that the filter was bought by Priorities USA, which is one of Clinton’s Super Pacs. At least her campaign is doing something to engage the younger crowd.
On the other side of the aisle, many are complaining that Snapchat is being biased during this election as there is no Trump filter. This isn’t true, however, as both candidates have filters available during Election Day.
Aside from the rather whacky filter that turns users into Clinton, others may opt for a more subtle approach through Geofilters, Mirror reports. This option allows users to overlay their photos with the Clinton logo and the “I’m with her” slogan.
Finally, users can take advantage of the Live Stories that Snapchat has going on in order to voice their views regarding the current election. The feature will come with a Geofilter that says “My take on the US Election” that aptly covers the point of the offer.
