Samsung has just announced a new entry-level tablet called Galaxy Tab A8, but the technical specifications for its rumored high-end Galaxy Tab S model have already leaked as well. The device, reportedly called Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, will reportedly ship with the latest chipset from Qualcomm and will run on the latest version of the Android operating system.
Multiple reliable sources have already reported on the existence of the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, which would be the first time the tablet line is getting a new top-tier model. SamMobile reported recently that the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 clocked at up to 3.0GHz and uses a single super core Cortex-X2.
The same report notes that Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will come off the box with Android 12. The tablet is then expected to be released with Samsung’s upcoming One UI 4.1 skin already installed. Leveraging new features from Android 12, the latest version of One UI delivers more customization options, along with new functions like the Extra Dim mode.
The “Ultra” in Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra’s name means it will have a bigger display than the standard Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy Tab S8+. The high-end tablet is expected to sport a 14.6-inch WQXGA+ display, and Samsung will likely retain a 16:10 aspect ratio.
Design for Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is expected to include a very thin bezel, which reportedly measures 6.3mm. But this tweak may have also necessitated the use of a notch, where Samsung reportedly places dual 12MP selfie cameras. It also has two rear-facing cameras, including 13MP and 6MP ultra-wide lenses.

Memory configurations for Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra would include 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB RAM, as well as 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage. The device will be available in Wi-Fi and LTE/5G versions. The tablet is only 5.5mm thin, which is slightly thinner than the Galaxy Tab S7+ (5.7mm).
It will also support the use of S Pen, which the leak says can still be magnetically attached to the back of the tablet. Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will be powered by an 11,200mAh battery with a 45W fast charging rate.
The latest leak did not mention anything about the Galaxy Tab S8 release date. But it is worth noting that Samsung did not release new premium Galaxy Tab S tablets this year, so it would not be surprising if the company launches the Galaxy Tab S8 series before summer 2022.
