More information has been leaked about the Samsung Galaxy S21 along with supposed video teasers that suggest there will be two-tone color options for the upcoming smartphone series. The promo materials emerged online as the next “Unpacked” event is reportedly happening in January.
Samsung Unpacked event reportedly set in mid-January
It is becoming even more apparent that the Galaxy S21 series will be unveiled earlier than Samsung’s usual schedule. Max Weinbach, in a report for Android Police, says he has sources that said the next Samsung Unpacked event is happening on Jan. 14, 2021. This is expected to be the venue for the official announcement of the Galaxy S21 series.

This is not the first time Samsung was reported to follow an early schedule for the Galaxy S21 next year, although earlier leaks suggested a retail launch in February. In Weinbach’s report, however, the mid-January unveiling event means the new flagship smartphones would arrive in store by Jan. 29.
Price point for #GalaxyS21 lineup in discussion
— Tron (@cozyplanes) December 1, 2020
(Unit: USD)
S21 >> 850 ~ 899
S21+ >> 1050 ~1099
S21U >> 1250 ~ 1299
The report did not mention specific pricing details for the Galaxy S21 lineup, but the upcoming devices are reportedly “cheaper” than its predecessors. This corresponds with an earlier leak from Twitter user Tron (@cozyplanes) that claims Samsung is considering to sell the base S21 model starting at around $850 to $899. Note that when the Galaxy S20 came out earlier this year, its standard price was at $999.
Samsung Galaxy S21 design likely includes two-tone color options
Another highlight in this new set of leaks is promotional videos that allegedly provide a sneak peek at the new color options for the Galaxy S21 series. One that has been attracting plenty of attention is a variant dubbed Phantom Violet. Its body has a light shade of glossy violet, but the camera bump, as well as its edges, have bronze finishing.
Samsung fans should manage their expectations, though, and not let the gloss make them think that the device will have an all-glass casing. The Galaxy S21 has been reported to feature a “glasstic” back. As for the Galaxy S21 Ultra model, the same source revealed a video teaser with an all-black variant. Higher-end S21 models are expected with glass finishing.
