“Rainbow Six Mobile” is the next shooter game designed for mobile devices based on a popular franchise originally released for PC and consoles. While fans do not know yet when the game will launch, Ubisoft is letting select players join in the game’s closed alpha test that will begin next week.
The availability of the “Rainbow Six Mobile” closed alpha test is quite limited, though. Interested gamers will have to sign up through this page for a chance to be selected to join the test. Those who will not be initially invited will still have a chance, as Ubisoft confirmed there will be “future tests.”
Players in the United States, Canada, and Mexico are the first to get the chance to play the mobile game. Ubisoft will only select a few players for the initial test, who shall be notified through email and will receive a unique code to download the game. The first test will begin on Tuesday, May 3.
Ubisoft published an FAQ page for the “Rainbow Six Mobile” on Tuesday, confirming that the closed alpha test will be available on Android. But there is no word yet if the test will also come to iOS devices. Aside from a supported device, participants will also need an active Ubisoft account.
Unlike other closed tests, those who get to play “Rainbow Six Mobile” starting May 3 are allowed to share gameplay content online. “We encourage you to share and discuss your experience with everyone,” Ubisoft said. But since the upcoming test is still in the alpha stage, the publisher said participants cannot carry over any progress they make once the game officially launches.
As expected, the gameplay features in the upcoming test will be limited. “Rainbow Six Mobile” testers will be able to play with 16 Operators, which include attackers Ash, Sledge, Twitch, Thermite, and Hibana. Ubisoft has also confirmed that the mobile game will feature defenders Caveira, Bandit, Smoke, Valkyrie, and Mute.
Ubisoft said more content will be available in the final version of the game. But, so far, the publisher has only confirmed two maps for “Rainbow Six Mobile,” including Bank and Border. These locations will be playable during the closed alpha with two game modes as well. A friends list functionality will be available during the first test, but progression and customization systems will not go live yet.
