Google might have made specific promises about the availability of Pixel Buds A-Series around the world, but the company has quietly confirmed it is coming to 10 more countries later this month. Pre-order has also opened for customers in this territory, so they can now check how much the device would cost in their local currency.
Pixel Buds A-Series availability, prices
When the Pixel Buds A-Series was announced last June, Google’s newest wireless earbuds were initially made available in the United States and Canada only. However, a support page detailing device availability confirms that it is also launching in 10 more countries, including Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom.
Customers in the said countries can now pre-order Pixel Buds A-Series through the online Google Store. There are slight price differences, too. The earbuds cost €99 in EU countries, £99 in the U.K., ¥11,900 in Japan, AUD159 in Australia, SGD199 in Singapore, and TWD3,290 in Taiwan.
The Pixel Buds A-Series launched in the U.S. and Canada with two color options, Clearly White and Dark Olive. However, 9To5Google notes that not all of the 10 countries mentioned are getting both variants. For example, Clearly White appears to be the only option offered in Australia, Taiwan, and Singapore. But customers in Europe and Japan will be able to choose between the two colors.
Google fans outside the U.S. and Canada who want to get the Pixel Buds A-Series can now secure a unit through the Google Store page for their respective countries. Make sure to pick the right region with the button at the bottom of the website. The wireless earbuds are expected to ship to these countries between Aug. 25-31.
Pixel Buds A-Series specs
The “A” in the Pixel Buds A-Series should be an obvious clue that these wireless earbuds are an affordable version of the flagship Pixel Buds. In terms of design, they appear identical, and they also share several similar features. They are both sweat and water-resistant, support touch controls and the “Hold for Google Assistant” function, they sport 12mm speaker drivers, and have Adaptive Sound technology.
However, the lower cost of Pixel Buds A-Series also comes with a few caveats. Its users can tap to play/pause and answer a call or double-tap to select the next track, and triple-tap to move to the previous track. But it does not support swipe gestures for volume control.
The good news is the Pixel Buds A-Series battery life is advertised at up to five hours on a single charge and up to 24 hours with the charging case, which are similar specs as the flagship Pixel Buds. However, the A-Series earbuds case does not support wireless charging.
