‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ lead female protagonist Kaya Scodelario recently announced her first pregnancy. Meanwhile, troubled star Johnny Depp welcomes his 53rd birthday surrounded by personal turmoil.
According to the Daily Mail, Scodelario took to Instagram to announce her first pregnancy with husband Benjamin Walker. The two locked lips on a beach while holding Scodelario’s baby bump. It was captioned, “I love you @findthewalker I love our little family.”
Walker posted a different photograph taken from the same moment on his own social media account. It was captioned, “Happy summer from the four of us.. I love you @kayascods.”
The 24-year old actress met Walker in April 2014 during the filming of ‘The Moon and the Sun’. They announced their engagement six months later and married in December 2015.
Scodelario’s rise to fame began when she was cast as the feisty Effy Stonem in the British teen drama series ‘Skins’. She went on to appear in full feature films such as ‘Clash of the Titans’ and ‘Wuthering Heights’ but shot to Hollywood fame as Teresa Agnes in the popular ‘The Maze Runner’ science-fiction thriller franchise.
She is set to portray the latest female protagonist in the fifth installment in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ cinematic series as the strong-willed astronomer Carina Smyth. Scodelario joins the returning cast namely Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Geoffrey Rush.
Meanwhile, Depp continues struggling with personal issues as he greets his 53rd birthday. In addition to mourning the recent death of his mother, he is in the midst of divorcing his wife Amber Heard and is currently facing accusations of drug addiction and domestic violence.
According to E!, Heard attended a May 27 court hearing with a visible bruise on her cheek. She filed for a restraining order after alleging that Depp hit her face with a cellphone after a fight in their penthouse in downtown L.A. Meanwhile, Depp's divorce attorney, Laura Wasser, accused the actress of lying in order to gain spousal support.
The 30-year old actress also filed a defamation lawsuit against Doug Stanhope for an article he wrote on The Wrap claiming that she was blackmailing Depp. Heard and Depp will appear in court for another hearing on June 17.
Depp is currently on a European tour with his band Hollywood Vampires, which includes Alice Cooper on vocals and Joe Perry on guitar.
‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ is an upcoming swashbuckler film following the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow. It is directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg and is currently in post-production ahead of the scheduled premiere date for May 26, 2017.
It is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer with associate producer Melissa Reid. Joseph M. Caracciolo Jr., Chad Oman, and Brigham Taylor are executive producing.
Its predecessor, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’, broke several box office records upon its release in May 2011. It grossed $1.05 billion worldwide, against a budget of $250 million.
