‘Peaky Blinders’ season 3, episode 5 will feature a confrontation between Alfie and Tommy. Meanwhile, BBC ordered for two more seasons to the delight of series creator Steven Knight.
The new promo for the episode 5 opened Alfie Solomons (Tom Hardy) waiting in Tommy Shelby’s (Cillian Murphy) office. When Tommy comes in and acknowledges “Mr. Solomons”, Alfie immediately launches into an indirect interrogation. It seems that the new episode is headed towards an imminent confrontation between the two characters.
Alfie is a violent and unpredictable Jewish gang leader who uses a bakery as a front for his distillery. He is known to be extremely intelligent and a master at negotiations. The character returned to torment Tommy in the third season.
The current season follows Tommy – now a wealthy yet dangerous man - struggling with life as the head of an organized crime family that is slowly becoming difficult to handle. Returning characters besides Tommy and Alfie include Helen McCrory’s Polly Grey, Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby, Sophie Rundle as Ada Thorne, and Joe Cole as John Shelby.
According to The Week, 'Peaky Blunders' season 3 proved to be a challenging one for the series despite massive praise from critics. It was reported that the show had been losing audiences mainly because of complaints of bad audio resulting to muffled dialogue between its characters. Paddy Considine joins the cast as Father John Hughes.
Nevertheless, BBC Two officially picked up two more seasons for ‘Peaky Blinders’ to the delight of fans. According to another article on Deadline, the network ordered seasons 4 and 5 following the mob drama’s critical acclaim. Each season will be made up of six episodes written by series creator Steven Knight.
Knight expressed his enthusiasm over the renewal saying, “I am genuinely thrilled at the response to the third series of the show. The prospect of writing series four and five is truly exciting. This is a real passion project for me and I look forward to telling more stories of the Shelby family.”
‘Peaky Blinders’ is a crime-drama television series based on the real-life Peaky Blinders gang that operated in England following World War I. Episode 5 is scheduled to air on June 2, 2016.
