Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the list of free games for PlayStation Plus members going live in February. Along with two other titles, subscribers will have a month to download the standalone release of “Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep.”
It was originally released as a post-launch DLC for the first-person shooter “Borderlands 2,” where Tina served as a dungeon master of a “Dungeons & Dragons”-like game popular in Pandora. The DLC proved to be popular among fans that it led to the development of an all-new game set in the “Borderlands” universe titled “Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands,” launching on Mar. 25.
2K Games released “Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep” as a standalone game last November, allowing new fans to be caught up on the events from the DLC ahead of its sequel’s release. The DLC’s re-release will be the free game to be offered to PS Plus members next month. However, Sony noted that the free download would be available for the game’s PS4 version only.
“UFC 4,” the latest MMA simulation game from EA Sports, is also part of the free games for PS Plus members in February. The game, which launched in 2020, features 229 fighters and a career mode that lets players make their own MMA fighters. Most of the matches happen in UFC’s official cage called The Octagon, but “UFC 4” also features backyard fighting mode and Kumite matches.
Also included in next month’s free games on PS Plus is the console edition of Frontier Developments’ “Planet Coaster.” It is a construction and management sim game that lets players build roller coasters and other amusement park rides. While the game mainly features the Sandbox Mode, it also offers a Challenge Mode where players will have to navigate through limited funds, among other challenges, in building their theme parks.
“Planet Coaster” was originally released in 2016, but it did not launch on consoles until late 2020. Sony also noted that the game’s free download through PS Plus only applies to its PS5 version.
The three games mentioned above will be available for PS Plus members starting Tuesday, Feb. 1. That means the currently available free games, including “Persona 5 Strikers,” “Dirt 5,” and “Deep Rock Galactic,” can only be downloaded through Monday, Jan.31.
