Fans of the popular isekai series are free to speculate on what might happen in terms of the plot or episode order of “Overlord” season 4. However, one seemingly plausible suggestion is for the anime series to use fewer light novel volumes as materials for the upcoming episodes.

Overlord’ season 4 plot predictions, spoilers

The anime adaptation has historically used three light novel volumes to produce one season with 13 episodes. That formula has been unchanged over the years, and the continuing popularity of the series should be enough evidence that it works. However, it does not guarantee anything when it comes to the production of “Overlord” season 4.

It should be noted that it is typical for light novel franchises to have more pages, which means longer story, in one book as the series goes on. But there could be a deeper explanation to the speculation that “Overlord” season 4 might only use just two light novel volumes.

Producers of the anime series could decide to only volumes 10 and 11 since the latter would provide a good ending and major cliffhanger. Some fans suggest that this could avoid “Overlord” season 4 from having an awkward ending. It would also prevent the next season from being rushed – a tendency for anime adaptations if producers forced to use too many materials than the episode order would allow.

Whatever the producers decide in terms of the “Overlord” season 4 material, it will certainly start with Ainz’s beginnings as the emperor of the Sorcerer Kingdom. But it is not going to be easy for him since he is not familiar with the responsibilities that include making policies for his constituents.

Overlord’ season 4 release date false alarm

When upcoming anime installments are confirmed, it usually means its production has started or the studio in charge has at least set a timeline. So when a report came out last year that “Overlord” season 4 has been confirmed, needless to say, fans were immediately excited. It would have meant that new episodes are likely getting released in 2020.

However, fans should note that it was just a false alarm and “Overlord” season 4 remains unannounced at this point. That should be enough indication that the premiere of new episodes this year is now highly unlikely.
