‘Orphan Black’ Season 4, Episode 7 Updates: “The Antisocialism of Sex” reveals a Disintegrating Sisterhood

‘Orphan Black’ is set to debut season 4’s episode 7 on May 26. The episode entitled “The Antisocialism of Sex” will follow the return of protagonist Sarah Manning (Tatiana Maslany) returning from her hideout to track down the mysterious Beth Childs.

In the episode synopsis posted on Comic Book Movie, it was revealed that the clones are headed for a fall out while Sarah will revert back to her old habits in her frustration to protect the sisterhood.

As a recap, the preceding episode “The Scandal of Altruism” saw some devastating plot twists for the show. According to TV Fanatic, the death of Kendall Malone (Alison Steadman) put away any hope of harvesting genetic material for the purpose of creating more human clones or finding a Leda cure.

With Cosima desperate to get the maggot-bot out of Sarah, Kendall allowed Scott (Josh Vokey) to take a sample from her for Professor Susan Duncan (Rosemary Dunsmore) in exchange for the deal of collaboration for finding a Leda cure. However, she is eventually kidnapped by Detective Dunko – who was working with the newly unmasked villain Evie Cho (Jessalyn Wanlim) - then shot in the head and burned into nothing in front of Cosima. Suprisingly, Dunko seemed apologetic and conflicted for his role on Kendall’s death.

Evie also revealed to Cosima that Delphine Cormier was shot dead at the Dyad parkade but the character’s death remains implausible since no actual body had been recovered.

Meanwhile, ‘Orphan Black’ creators explained that the shocking death wasn’t an easy decision. According to Entertainment Weekly, co-creator John Fawcett said, “Obviously this was a big emotional decision, but also it’s a decision that puts everybody in a very difficult place. Where we thought we had a sure fire answer, now suddenly we don’t… In fact, we’ve got less than what we began with. Not only is Kendall dead and her biology incinerated, but we’ve lost all of our research as well. And we are really now at the mercy of a very big new villain, which is Evie Cho, who has now presented herself.”

Co-creator Graeme Manson added, “When we looked at this episode, we were looking at the shape of the whole season… And we knew we wanted to do something really big in the middle. We really liked the same feel last season with episode 6 then and we wanted to make this a really big one.”

‘Orphan Black’ season 7 is scheduled to air on May 26, 2016.
