The OnePlus 6T still remains one of the most anticipated flagship smartphones on the market this year. This is despite the fact that the Chinese manufacturer has yet to release an official announcement that a 6T variant is in the works.
The OnePlus series has been hailed as a flagship destroyer since it is believed to offer similar hardware specifications to its rivals but with the price considerably lower. The company often releases a “T” variant of its new phones which provides a slight upgrade, Express reported. However, it seems that the Shenzen-based firm isn’t planning on releasing the OnePlus 6T smartphone.
The reason for this is that the company doesn’t feel the OnePlus 6T variant is going to provide a new experience for users given that there are no significant developments on the smartphone market at the moment. But even though this is the case, rumors are still circulating that the 6T version is currently being made.
The noise comes amidst Oppo’s announcement of its new smartphone, the R17. And given that Oppo is the parent company of OnePlus, fans of the flagship series began speculating that the OnePlus 6T may receive a similar treatment to Oppo’s new product.
This makes sense as OnePlus has always taken inspiration from Oppo regarding design and hardware specifications, adding improvements to their models to a point that they become unique. There’s also the fact that the T version usually comes six months after the original device is released. The OnePlus 6 hit the market in May. Following the timeline, the OnePlus 6T can potentially drop sometime around October if the company decides to release it.
But given that most of the noise being generated is coming from rumors and speculations, it’s unlikely that the OnePlus 6T will see an October release date. This doesn’t stop hardcore fans from wondering, however, and YouTube channel Concept Creator even made a speculative look at how the OnePlus 6T version is going to be designed.
