What was formerly one of the most promising returns of an anime, “One Punch Man” Season 2 has since drawn the ire of fans after a second trailer for the show was released. This one showcases the quality of the animation more and it would seem that viewers were not impressed. As a result, many are now demanding for the air date to be pushed back to change the animation or the studio; either one works.
As OtakuKart reports, it would appear that the quality of the animation that J.C. Staff brought to the table is not matching well with fan expectations. Considering that ardent lovers of the series have been waiting for almost four years for “One Punch Man” Season 2, this is understandable. After all, the first season of the anime was known for some of the most bombastic animation styles ever put to TV.
In comparison, the second trailer looks significantly less professional. Some are even saying that it looks like it was made by an amateur, especially when it comes to the appearances of the characters. Among the biggest complaints is just how long and pointed the faces have become. If the studio releases “One Punch Man” Season 2 in this state, the show could be dead on arrival.
For those wondering how on earth this happened, the change in studios is the main cause of the problem. The first season of the anime was made by Madhouse and it absolutely blew everyone away with how fluid the animation was. In contrast, J.C. Staff is a studio known more for romance anime, which explains the look of the characters in the newest “One Punch Man” Season 2 trailer.
Suffice it to say, fans will be the ones to decide best if “One Punch Man” Season 2 is worth giving a shot despite the misgivings brought about by the second trailer. Those who still want to watch it can do so when it premieres in April.
