OmniFoods is a Hong Kong-based company that is best known for its OmniPork, the plant-based pork that boasts of being cholesterol-free, hormone-free, antibiotic-free, and cruelty-free.
The company has been successful with its OmniPork brand and now it is launching something new again. Since plant-based foods are becoming a big business today, OmniFoods is developing its vegan business further to offer more and strive to be the best in the market.
The next phenomenon in the plant-based market
Plant-based food options have sprouted worldwide. There are substitutes for beef, pork and dairy products and OmniFoods is taking the lead to introduce a new addition to the existing products.
The company announces the launch of its OmniSeafood. As suggested by its name, this will offer a line of seafood food items that are plant-based.
With the company’s continuous innovation, it has come to this creation that eventually expanded its product pipeline. Apart from OmniPork that was first introduced in 2018 and offered plant-based luncheon meat, it will now offer a new kind of protein in the form of seafood options.
CNN Business mentioned that OmniFoods will be releasing a range of food from the sea and this includes the Omni Golden Fillet, Omni Classic Fillet and Omni Ocean Burger which is a coated patty of breaded fish. These were unveiled in time for World Oceans Day this year.
Omni Salmon and OmniTuna are also coming up and the food maker promises a new experience for its high-quality plant-based fish selections. These are said to be great for culinary cooking as well.
"It is very much the major white space that has not been tapped," Green Monday Group founder, David Yeung, said in an interview. "Everyone has been obviously focused on beef, chicken, pork."
What plant-based seafood are made of
The OmniSeafood items are made from the finest ingredients that were also used in the OmniPork brand. This means the protein meat from the ocean is made from soy, rice and more.
Initially, this will be released through restaurants in Hong Kong this month. Later, OmniFoods will start rollouts in China, the U.K., Australia and Southeast Asia.
“This breakthrough guarantees not only to wow our taste buds but also to awaken our consciousness towards the ocean and the planet,” Vegconomist quoted Yeung as saying in a separate statement. “With today’s milestone launch of OmniSeafood, we believe it is a big leap forward to a real sea change.”
