‘Nashville’ Season 4 Episode 21 Spoilers: “Maybe You’ll Appreciate Me Someday” Ends Show on a Cliffhanger?

Hayden Panettiere as Juliette on hit TV series 'Nashville'

‘Nashville’ season 4 is set to air its final episode on May 25. The episode, entitled “Maybe You’ll Appreciate Me Someday”, is speculated to end on a cliffhanger since ABC has decided to cancel the television show for good.

The teaser video for the season finale posted on Hollywood Hills showed that it may be Rayna Jaymes’ (Connie Britton) last time to perform in front of her adoring fans.

The episode synopsis also teased, “Rayna resorts to drastic measures when she learns that Maddie has crossed paths with a duplicitous figure from her past.” Rayna tried to convince Maddie (Lennon Stella) not to sign with a New York-based record label Lennox Hill in order to save her from making the same mistakes she did as a young artist but it remains unknown if Maddie will be swayed enough to heed her advice.

Meanwhile, the upcoming episode doesn’t seem to be kind to Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) as she faces a decision as to how she can publicly reckon the truth on Jeff Fordham’s death as well as make up for her past mistakes. The trailer flashes to Juliette saying, “It’s time for me to take responsibility.”

Jeff lost his life saving Juliette but the country star is hesitant about revealing this dark side of her past to the public especially since this may directly affect Layla.

According to another article on International Business Times, the show will also feature Scarlett O’Connor (Clare Bowen) and Gunnar Scott’s (Sam Palladio) split as bandmates as they try and pursue careers as individual artists. The teaser eventually revealed that Scarlett admits her love for him in a more romantic turn of events.

Despite these plot developments, it was reported that ABC finally decided to end the show after the fourth season.

According to Deadline, ABC’s entertainment president Channing Dungey was asked about the cancellation to which he replied, “The studios in each case were looking for the best financial and creative ways to help their shows get another season, making plans should they get orders… At the end of the day — even though both Castle and Nashville have been wonderful shows and great performers — we felt that the future for us didn’t necessarily lie in these shows.”

‘Nashville’ was axed together with another long-running TV favorite ‘Castle’. The musical drama television series is scheduled to air its season finale on May 25, 2016.
