Former First Lady Michelle Obama is among the high-profile figures that are participating in the audiobook version of singer Alicia Keys’ book More Myself. An excerpt of the audiobook that was teased to the public revealed that the former FLOTUS has nothing but praise for the singer.
Keys shared an excerpt of her audiobook, the part of which was read by Obama, on her Instagram. “Over the years, we’ve grown closer, and I’ve seen Alicia continue to shine in a way that only she can. Her family has grown larger now, and she’s earned even more awards. Yet what continues to impress me is her choice to grapple with the big questions: What is my purpose? What can I do for others? How can I use this fame for good? Somewhere in there is, if not an answer, at least a glimmer of the truth that I think we’re all seeking. And by sharing her music and her soul, Alicia is bringing us closer to it than we may realize,” said the former FLOTUS about the singer.
Other stars and influential figures who are participating in Keys’ audiobook are Oprah Winfrey, Bono, and Jay-Z as well as her husband Swizz Beatz and members of her family. While it is described as “part autobiography, part narrative documentary,” Keys has said that it is not a memoir.
Meanwhile, Michelle has previously revealed what the Obamas are doing during this time when people are forced to stay at home. Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres, the former First Lady shared their routine as they also cope with the self-quarantine period over an interview from their respective homes. Michelle shared that they are in the process of structuring their days. “Everybody’s home - the girls are back because colleges are online, so they’re off in their respective rooms doing their online classes,” said Michelle about her daughters Malia and Sasha.
As to what her husband Barack is doing, Michelle shared, “He was on the phone on a conference call, I just got finished with a conference call. We’re just trying to keep a routine going, but we’ve also got a little Netflix and chilling happening.”
