Alicia Keys has an audiobook coming out soon, and she has gathered a list of big time figures and celebrities. Among the roster of high-profile figures is former First Lady Michelle Obama.
Obama will be taking part in Keys’ audiobook version of More Myself: A Journey. She joins Keys’ husband Swizz Beats, Oprah Winfrey, Bono, and Jay-Z among many other celebrities. The audiobook version has been described as part autobiography and part narrative documentary, with some unreleased musical recordings that reveal her recording process along with her song ideas and musical riffs. Keys’ family will also contribute to the recording of the audiobook, produced by Guy Oldfield.
Keys shared her thoughts on the finished audiobook, which will be released through Flatiron Books and Macmillan Audio. “This audiobook has so much amazing energy, I’ve never experienced something so intimate. It’s nuanced and surprising and musical and emotional! I love it, and I am grateful to all my friends and loved ones for joining me on this ride. Recording this was a meditative experience, and I cannot wait for the world to hear my story from my own voice,” said Keys in a statement.
Meanwhile, Obama has also teamed up with DJ D-Nice in an online “couch party” in collaboration with her nonpartisan organization, When We All Vote to encourage eligible voters to register to vote. 61,000 people tuned in, including celebrities such as David Beckham, Will Smith, Chaka Khan, Oprah Winfrey, Amy Schumer, Janelle Monae, Tracee Ellis Ross, Vanessa Williams, and Timbaland.
Before the set began, the organization announced its goal of texting 50,000 eligible voters through the platform Outvote. By the end of the set, Outvote exceeded the goal of 50,000 by receiving 407, 824 voters while helping almost 13,000 eligible voters start or complete their registration process.
Previously, Obama was among the roster of celebrities who tuned in to DJ D-Nice’s “Homeschool at Club Quarantine” online party via Instagram Live, encouraging the public to abide by social distancing and during the coronavirus pandemic. Along with the former First Lady, celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Missy Elliott, Ava DuVernay, Kelly Rowland, Wanda Sykes, and even political figures like Senator Kamala Harris and current Democratic presidential candidates Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders.
