United States First Lady Melania Trump is once again under fire from netizens over her latest social media post. Sharing photos of a White House visit by the Guatemalan president and the First Lady resulted in criticism from the public.
It is no surprise that the Trump family is perhaps the most controversial First Family, mainly due to President Donald Trump’s remarks and policies. Recently, Melania shared photos of the White House visit by the Guatemalan President and First Lady on Twitter. Netizens were quick to comment, even bringing up Donald’s previous comments about the South American nation. “You mean the same country he called s***holes?” says one user. Another one also brought up the same question.
Others also brought up the issue of Trump separating families at the border, such as one kid had died from influenza while being detained without being given food, water, or any necessities. One also brought up the fact that many of the families that were separated from the border were Guatemalan, highlighting the irony of the entire situation. There were others who also brought up the impeachment proceedings that were made against Trump that recently happened.
On the other side of the spectrum, others came to the First Lady’s defense, praising her for her style and grace in attending to the Guatemalan President and First Lady.
But that is not the only thing she was recently under fire for. The Guardian reports that the First Lady was previously under fire by netizens for defending her husband Donald and his “cyber-bullying” of climate change activist Greta Thunberg. This is ironic considering her own campaign called Be Best, is exactly against bullying. However, she was criticized for staying silent and passively defending her own husband for his comments about Thunberg.
Through a statement released by the White House press secretary, “It is no secret that the President and First Lady often communicate differently - as most married couples do.”
Melania was quick to call out comments regarding her son Barron Trump during an impeachment hearing but stayed silent when Donald cyberbullied Thunberg, who is also a minor like Barron.
