Melania Trump: FLOTUS criticized for world peace resolution

New year means new resolutions to make, at least it seems that way for the Trumps. Recently, United States First Lady Melania Trump is once again caught in the wave of criticism in light of her new year’s resolution.

Express reports that the First Lady shared her new year’s resolution in a recent presidential gathering in welcoming the new year, which ended in embarrassment when her husband President Donald Trump corrected her. “Peace on the world,” said Melania when reporters asked her. However, Donald corrected her by saying that new year’s resolutions should not be said out loud, like a wish.

However, it seemed to be the least of what sparked the outrage of the general public. Many were quick to comment online on the irony of her resolution given what her husband’s administration has been doing over the past year, from the detainment of children at the border to the recent threats made towards Iran that could spark a potential war. Melania’s anti-bullying campaign, Be Best, was also mocked and pointed out. One said that she gave a very “beauty pageant contestant” answer to the question.

Some also said that respect should be earned, as well as “as long as there are children in cages she is fair game. They all are.”

This wave of criticism comes shortly after Melania was under fire by the general public for reportedly plagiarizing Christmas. The First Lady gave the public a look into the Christmas decorations for the White House, supposedly paying homage to “The Spirit of America.”

Unfortunately, it was met with a very mixed response from the public online. Some pointing out that the recent posts involving the decor made it seem like the First Lady invented the Christmas wreath. The reactions were a mix of outrage and sarcasm, saying that Christmas wreaths have been part of the holiday tradition for as long as everyone can remember.

Others expressed their confusion, wondering what was new about the wreath when it is seen everywhere. But a few also brought up the previous controversy the First Lady was in, with the accusation that she copied the inaugural speech of her predecessor Michelle Obama.
