First Lady Melania Trump may be known for breaking some traditions followed by her predecessors, but there are some White House traditions that she will be following as well. The First Lady recently announced the upcoming Easter Egg Roll at the White House for 2020.
The White House official website made the announcement of the annual event, which will see the First Family, along with the families of the White House staff, celebrate the Easter holiday. This is a tradition that goes all the way back to 1878 when Rutherford B. Hayes was in office that is still honored today. Children under 13 years old are invited to come and attend, and although admission is free, only a limited number of children will be able to attend as tickets will be given through an online lottery that will open o the 18th of February.
The White House Easter Egg Roll will take place at the South Lawn on the 13th of April. Winners of the lottery will be notified via email on the 4th of March. Those who prefer to volunteer in the events can also apply through the White House website starting on February 4th and will be notified on February 21st.
Meanwhile, as her husband Donald Trump is also up for reelection in November, Politico reports that she will be doing her part to help him in his campaign. The First Lady will be hosting a number of fundraisers in the spring, one will take place in Beverly Hills on the 18th of March and the other will be at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on the 25th of March. Both events will go to Trump Victory, which is a joint fundraising account for both the reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee.
According to Republican officials, the First Lady can be a big draw to donors who wish to connect with the First Family. Donald’s eldest son, Donald Trump, Jr., is known for regularly attending donor events. His girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, is also the chairwoman of the Trump Victory Finance Committee. Donald’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, who also serves as a senior political adviser, is also a regular at fundraising events.
