Apple is expected to introduce a fresh MacBook Pro in 2018. Although the company remains mum about its next series of laptops, a recent Geekbench 4 test results might have confirmed that a new MacBook Pro with an Intel Coffee Lake is in the pipeline.
The Cupertino, California-based tech corporation typically releases MacBook Pro refreshes whenever Intel launches its latest generation of computer and laptop processors. The same scenario is highly expected to happen this year. This speculation was further reinforced by the said Geekbench 4 testing executed earlier this month.
The test for a particular “MacBookPro15,2” is now rumored to represent an upcoming MacBook Pro for 2018. In the section for the processor information, the laptop evaluated was powered by the Intel Core i7-8559U CPU. It was clocked at a base frequency of 2.7 GHz and runs with a four-core/eight-thread build.
Meanwhile, the supposed MacBook Pro 2018 laptop on Geekbench is built with a 16GB RAM. Surprisingly, however, it was tested with the macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 instead of the upcoming macOS 10.14 Mojave, which was already announced last June and is slated to go live later this year.
Reports suggest that based on the designated name MacBookPro15,2 on the seen Geekbench sheet, this laptop is likely a direct refresh to the 13-inch MacBook Pro released last year. The said MacBook Pro 2018 predecessor was referred to as “MacBookPro14,2” in its respective Geekbench test.
There are several other indications that MacBook Pro 2018 laptops will be released in the coming months. Just recently, several regulatory filings submitted to the Eurasian Economic Commission were also leaked, as first reported by Consomac. The documents, however, only showed identifiers and model numbers of five Apple laptops.
Further reports claim that three of these model numbers — namely A1988, A1989 and A1990 — are most likely referring to MacBook Pro 2018 laptops. These filings are also supposed to be pointing to two 13-inch and one 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops to be announced and to be released this year. Interestingly, these registered laptops were also listed with the macOS High Sierra 10.13 operating system.
It is now starting to look like Apple will not be introducing new innovations added to the MacBook Pro 2018 design. But these leaked benchmark results and regulatory filings are possibly the clues that say at least upgraded MacBook Pro laptops are going to be released before the year ends.
