The Robinsons are going to face new and possibly much harder challenges in an entirely foreign planet in “Lost in Space” season 2. But what's still unclear is whether the Robot (Brian Steele) will be joining their journey.
Season 1 finale had several tensed moments. Will Robinson (Maxwell Jenkins) was almost killed by another alien robot that looked like the friendly Robot but with extra pairs of scary tentacles. Luckily, Will's best friend came back to its senses and saved him. However, he was left with no choice but to jump out of the Jupiter 2 and grab his antagonizing look-alike with him for the sake of the Robinsons. This suggests that the Robot is now destroyed making fans wonder if Will is going to be reunited with his space buddy in “Lost in Space” season 2.
Take note, though, that the Robot was actually damaged earlier in season 1. But it eventually turned up fixed and that's when Dr. Smith a.k.a. June Harris (Parker Posey) took control of it. This means that the Robot could also return in “Lost in Space” season 2.
Another reason to believe Will's friend is coming back is the main setting and location of “Lost in Space” season 2. There are several indications that the foreign planet where the Jupiter 2 will land is the planet where the Robot originated.
“Lost in Space” season 2 picks up from the point when the alien engine took control of Jupiter 2 and redirected its course to a planet that only Will recognized. Before landing, Maureen Robinson (Molly Parker) asked if Will knows what the planet is called. The youngest Robinson then responded, “Danger.” This could literally mean that the Robot's supposed home planet is named Danger and that already says a lot about the future of the lost family of space colonists.
The filming of “Lost in Space” season 2 has reportedly wrapped up in late January. It might still take more months to finish post-production but there are speculations that Netflix could assign a fall 2019 premiere for the show.
