“Lost in Space” season 2 opens up with the Robinson family and Dr. Smith a.k.a June Harris (Parker Posey) thrown away in a completely new galaxy. While Netflix has yet to release an official trailer, key filming locations offer a glimpse of how the new setting would look like. Fans are also going to meet a couple of new characters.

Details about the new faces in “Lost in Space” season 2 has been reported by That Hashtag Show after apparently obtaining a character breakdown list. First up is a mechanics supervisor named Ava who is reportedly aged between 20 and 40.

Ava’s character is described to be a colleague of Don West (Ignacio Serricchio), who is also a mechanic. Though she does not like his personality, Ava recognizes that Don is great at his job. One possibility is that Ava being a character from the past who will appear in recurring flashback scenes to explore Don’s backstory in “Lost in Space” season 2.

The second character to be introduced in “Lost in Space” season 2 is identified as the captain of the Resolute named Commander Jiang. She is also possibly a character from the past or someone that the Robinsons will meet in the current timeline.

The Robinson family composed of Maureen (Molly Parker), John (Toby Stephens), Will (Maxwell Jenkins), Judy (Taylor Robins), and Penny (Mina Sundwall) have all been mysteriously thrown away to a foreign planet. The popular speculation for “Lost in Space” season 2 is this location was where the Robot (Brian Steele) originated but the first season’s finale promised that “danger” awaits.

One of the exciting parts of “Lost in Space” season 2 is the aspect of exploring an all-new environment. Based on the reported filming locations for the upcoming season, fans can have an inkling of the sights to expect.

The filming for “Lost in Space” season 2 was reportedly scheduled from September 2018 to the end of January this year. Last year, one of the outdoor filming sites was the Alberta Badlands in Canada. A quick search of the place shows photos that would make a great setting for pre-historic times because of its rock formations and the fact that it was believed to be the habitat of dinosaurs.

“Lost in Space” season 2 also filmed in the Skógafoss Waterfall in the southern parts of Iceland as well as in the eastern parts of Dyrhólaey, which is known for its beaches. This hints at various scenes featuring beautiful bodies of water.

If there were no hiccups in the filming of “Lost in Space” season 2, it is safe to assume that the show entered the post-production phase. That gives it enough time to have a late 2019 release date but some also consider it possible to premiere in the first half of 2020.
