Krispy Kreme announced that it is giving away doughnuts as a treat to people who have already received their COVID-19 vaccine. The free treat will be available throughout this year.
Doughnut and inoculation in the U.S.
Apparently, Krispy Kreme is trying to do its part in encouraging people to be inoculated. The company wants everyone to get their COVID-19 vaccine, and giving away free doughnuts is its way of telling people to be vaccinated.
People just need to show their vaccination cards to get their free doughnut. It was said that each person could avail their free treat every day. For the company’s staff, it is also offering an additional four paid hours if they will get their vaccine.
The American doughnut company and coffeehouse chain can enjoy this sweet incentive until the end of 2021. The promo started on Monday, March 22. It should be noted that the free doughnut is not applicable to premium flavors, and Krispy Kreme is only giving away its famous Original Glazed variant.
“Starting today, guests who show a valid COVID-19 vaccination card at any Krispy Kreme shop in the U.S. can receive a free iconic Original Glazed doughnut – anytime, any day, even every day, through the remainder of 2021,” the company stated via press release.
Krispy Kreme’s chief marketing officer, Dave Skena, added, “We all want to get COVID-19 behind us as fast as possible, and we want to support everyone doing their part to make the country safe by getting vaccinated as soon as the vaccine is available to them.”
Where to get the free donut treat
The doughnut chain is also supporting health care workers and volunteers who are assisting with the administration of the vaccines across the states. They do not have to visit the stores as the company will be delivering the free doughnuts to vaccination centers, and this will start in the coming weeks.
Skena further told USA TODAY in a separate interview that the freebie offering is available in all 369 Krispy Kreme outlets in 41 states nationwide. Also, unlike in normal promos, inoculated individuals can get their doughnuts without any purchase requirement. Finally, there is no limit to the freebie, so all vaccinated people can literally go and get their donuts every day.
