‘Justice League’ may feature a former ‘Superman’ actor in a surprise cameo. Meanwhile, Jason Momoa apparently prepares for his role as Aquaman by blasting death metal at full volume.
According to Comicbook.com, Marc McClure may appear in Zack Snyder’s upcoming ‘Justice League’ film. The 59-year old actor is best known for his portrayal of photographer Jimmy Olsen in the Christopher Reeve Superman movies.
McClure was first introduced as Jimmy in the 1978 film ‘Superman’ and went on to reprise his role in subsequent follow-ups, specifically 1980’s ‘Superman II’, 1983’s ‘Superman III’, 1987’s ‘Superman IV: The Quest for Peace’, and 1984’s ‘Supergirl’. Sam Huntington of Syfy’s ‘Being Human’ took over the role for the 2006 film ‘Superman Returns’ directed by Bryan Singer with Brandon Routh starring as Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman.
During a Q&A panel at a special screening of ‘Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut’ held at the Hayden Orpheum Theatre in Sydney, Australia, McClure was asked about any upcoming ‘Superman’ projects. The actor hinted that he may be appearing in a late 2017 film. Although McClure didn’t state specifically that the project would be Zack Snyder’s ‘Justice League’ slated to be released on November 17, 2017, it was rumored that he may cameo.
It is yet unknown if the character Jimmy would be featured in Snyder’s film. The director previously explained, “We don’t have room for Jimmy Olsen in our big pantheon of characters, but we can have fun with him, right?”
Meanwhile, Snyder posed with actor Jason Momoa for an Instagram post in Iceland. According to Batman News, Momoa captioned the photograph with “Too much fun. Love working for this man. Mahalo zach ALOHA AC.” Momoa is set to adapt the iconic Arthur Curry a.k.a. Aquaman and joins an ensemble cast made up of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Henry Cavill as Superman.
According to Cinema Blend, the 37-year old actor had a unique way of preparing for his role as revealed by co-star Diane Lane, who plays Martha Kent in the upcoming film. During an appearance at ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’, Lane said that she overheard Momoa getting ready for his scenes.
She said, “Jason Momoa, he's our Aquaman. I didn't get to meet him, but I heard out of my trailer him getting ready for his scene. That's how he was preparing. I'm inside trying to say, 'Save the cherry orchard!' and learn my lines for Chekhov and out the window I'm hearing this death metal while he's getting to do whatever he does in the film, which I can't wait to see him do.”
‘Justice League’ is an upcoming action-adventure and fantasy film intended as the fifth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). It is directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio. It is produced by DC Comics, DC Entertainment, RatPac-Dune Entertainment LLC, Lensberg Productions and Warner Bros.
The film is scheduled to be released on November 17, 2017.
