Jungkook, the youngest member of BTS, had been involved in a car accident last weekend. The mishap was belatedly reported but when it came out, fans were expressing their concern for the singer.
It was revealed that when the collision happened, Jungkook was the one driving his car and the other party involved was a taxi. The incident took place in Hannam-dong, Seoul and it was said that Jungkook was at fault when he committed a traffic light violation which apparently caused the accident.
Jungkook admitted his fault
The BTS member was not drunk at that time and he admitted to the police that the mishap was his mistake. Back then, it was said that the case had been settled already since there was no serious injury. Both Jungkook and the driver of the taxi were not hurt in any way so the matter was settled immediately.
However, the investigation is still on-going despite the agreements. In the latest update from the authorities, it was reported that there will be no legal repercussions and Jungkook may not even get some warning points on his driving license and this was because he already reached an agreement with the other driver. This means that the BTS maknae may have paid an undisclosed amount for the damages.
"If there are people who got seriously injured, there is a possibility for a greater penalty, but so far, there are none reported, Koreaboo quoted the Yongsan Police as saying. “If there are only physical damages, Jungkook may be required to pay administrative fines and settlements.”
It was added that if the taxi driver brings a medical certificate, there is a possibility that Jungkook could be held accountable for criminal damages. The officers stated that it might take them a month before they can conclude their investigation.
Surprising criticisms hurled at Jungkook
As the news of the 22-year-old’s car accident hugged the headlines, some netizens appeared to have launched their own investigation and they found out that on the day of the accident, Jungkook posted a video of how he plays “Overwatch.” He was praised for his gaming skills at that time but when the netizens connected the day of the mishap and the date when he uploaded the clip, they realized it all happened on the same day, on Oct. 31.
Allkpop reported that the discovery pushed some netizens to criticized Jungkook, saying that the BTS member doesn’t seem to care about the accident at all. They said that the fact that he posted the video means the singer treated the incident as if “nothing happened. Then again, the ARMYs are defending him by telling people to leave Jungkook alone.
