There are a lot of things that seem to be happening to Jungkook every day, with the BTS member drawing a significant amount of attention from fans and the industry. This time, a supposed English slang that he mentioned has spawned a meme and it would appear that he is finally ready to be called “Oppa.” Does this represent a new dawn for the K-Pop star?
By now, fans of Jungkook already know that he is trying to learn English so that he can help answer interviews in the language. The leader of BTS, RM is currently the only one to do so since he is the only fluent English speaker in the group. By learning the language, the youngest member hopes to alleviate this burden, Koreaboo reports.
In the process, Jungkook is trying to internalize some English words and phrases that he then tries to throw out from time to time. One particular phrase has fans of the group expressing giddiness. The phrase is “Let’s get this bread” and it is drawing all kinds of attention from the Army.
For those who don’t understand the reference, Jungkook basically says “Let get this!” in order to fire up the crowd. The phrase is basically a derivation from it and it is absolute meme gold for the fans. Speaking of which, another exciting development is that now, fans can call the performer “Oppa.”
This was not always the case and Jungkook has often been observed to push back on the label. He was not comfortable being referred to as such, especially if those doing so are older than him. Now, though, he seems to be fine with it and a lot of it appears to be due to the fans wearing him down. These days, the K-Pop sensation is apt to respond to be called such by his fans.
