“Jessica Jones” Season 3 will be the last run for the superhero series, ending Netflix’s days of featuring Marvel superheroes into its ensemble. And while other fans are pissed for the show’s cancelation, David Tennant – who played Kilgrave in the series – said that he’s okay with the decision.
“I don’t really regard it as a cancellation so much as something having the life that it should have,” Tennant told Entertainment Weekly. “Three seasons of that story is great. Rather than thinking of it as something that was canceled, I think of it as something that had three seasons that will live in the memory.” And live it will. Show creator Melissa Rosenberg previously said that they want “Jessica Jones” Season 3 to “go out with a bang” to give the series the ending it deserves.
The third installment’s plot will be centered on JJ’s (Krysten Ritter) grief and her journey towards healing. Of course, there will also be vengeance along the way as the private investigator will be avenging her mother after Trish (Rachael Taylor) killed her. And speaking of Trish, “Jessica Jones” Season 3 will likely have the character transform to Hellcat, Digital Spy reported.
It's already been revealed that although Trish’s enhancement procedure was interrupted by JJ, her reflexes has now been heightened. The question now is: will Hellcat be the main antagonist in “Jessica Jones” Season 3?
That’s still uncertain at this point. Rosenberg has time and again emphasized that Trish is someone who wants to help others, although her judgment can sometimes be askew. While “Jessica Jones” Season 3 can make her the bad guy for earlier episodes, the story is still in a position to maneuver a redemption arc for Trish.
This, in turn, can set up the events that would ultimately lead to JJ forgiving Trish for the murder. Of course, this is merely speculation at this point. However, judging by Rosenberg’s storytelling so far, it’s unlikely that she’s going to transform Trish into a one-dimensional villain. As for the release date of “Jessica Jones” Season 3, there’s still no word from Netflix when it will air. However, speculations are claiming that it may arrive mid-2019.
