When season 3 of “Jane The Virgin” ended, Jane and Michael were supposed to be happily married and Jane herself was supposed to lose her “purity” as it were. Unfortunately, Michael ended up getting shot by a disguised Sin Rostro. Will Michael die and leave Jane a virgin widow? Executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman recently talked to Deadline and shared a few hints.
With Jane’s virginity being a major factor in the show, it’s only natural that viewers would be interested in that topic the most. However, Urman said that Jane losing her virginity is not the main focus of the show.
“I never wanted Jane to lose her virginity in a season premiere, or a season finale,” she said. “I think that puts too much pressure on her virginity and frankly, that’s never been what the show’s been about. That said, she won’t be a virgin by the end of next season…”
So, with that promise in mind, at least one mystery has been solved. The other mystery of whether or not Michael is dead however, is still in the air and Urman is not about make any solid comments except to tell viewers to simply watch the third season.
Fortunately, we have Brett Drier who plays Michael in the show. Talking to Bustle recently, the actor commented on his character’s fate, saying that if indeed Michael were to survive getting shot, he would come out a different person.
Drier said that Michael will likely have a deeper appreciation for life; an outcome that is not that unexpected after a near-death experience. He also points out that even if Michael survives, which is a really big “if” right now, there is his recovery to deal with. As such, consummating his marriage with Jane will probably be challenging, at best.
The premiere date for Season 3 of “Jane The Virgin” has not been announced yet by CW.
