Many fans staying in their homes will have enough time to rewatch the latest episodes of “Jack Ryan” on Amazon Prime Video. Upon doing so, they might find major plot points that could affect the series in “Jack Ryan” season 3 and beyond.
A series without Cathy Mueller?
Viewers have varying opinions on the on-screen chemistry of the title character, portrayed by John Krasinski, and Cathy Mueller (Abbie Cornish) in season 1. But it still seemed like all fans were quite shocked to not see her or find any reference to her existence in the second installment.
This is an important development considering that Cathy Mueller has played a major role in the original “Ryanverse” novels by Tom Clancy. It is worth noting that the second season had many action-packed scenes that left fans no time to miss Cathy’s presence too much. This could be setting up a precedent for the series and suggests that Jack will not be big on having a love interest in “Jack Ryan” season 3 simply because the story does not actually need it.
James Greer goes back to desk duty for good
James Greer (Wendell Pierce) has been known for one thing – his despise of desk duty. But that completely changed in season 2 after going through torture and getting diagnosed with a serious medical condition. Greer had a very clear message in the season 2 finale, “It's been a hell of a run, but it's over. Time to move on.”
That seems like a great exit line, but he is more likely referring to no longer joining fieldwork and not about quitting from the CIA entirely. It is going to be interesting to see what Jack and Greer’s new dynamic would be with the latter possibly sticking with desk duty in “Jack Ryan” season 3 and future installments.
Longer breaks starting in ‘Jack Ryan’ season 3?
Fans are probably more curious about the “Jack Ryan” season 3 release date. Many are rooting for the series to maintain a one-season-per-year cycle since it managed to do so in the past couple of years. But 2020 might be the year when that tradition will be broken.
It was reported earlier this year that work on the “Jack Ryan” season 3 scripts have just started. Also, the COVID-19 global pandemic might be making it impossible for the show to film new episodes, especially since it is known for having shooting locations all over the globe. With these things considered, the next season might not premiere until the second half of 2021.
