“Jack Ryan” season 3 is expected to enter production soon, so fans are still free to formulate theories on what’s next for John Krasinski’s titular spy role. No matter what some fans think of Dr. Cathy Mueller’s (Abbie Cornish) impact in the first season, it is hard to overlook the ways the character could be brought back for the show’s third installment.
It wouldn’t be the first time ‘Jack Ryan’ will have parallels with the real world
TV fans still have no clue of the premise that will send Jack running around the world and taking down bad guys in “Jack Ryan” season 3. But it would be interesting for the show to draw some inspirations from the shattering world events that took place in the first half of 2020 such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
It would not be the first time that the show hits too close to reality when it made Venezuela the main setting in season 2. Jack, Greer (Wendell Pierce), and Mike November (Michael Kelly) had to tackle a corrupt president of the said country at a time when there had been a real-life power struggle happening in the said country. It prompted Minister of Culture of Venezuela, Ernesto Villegas to call the show a “crass war propaganda disguised as entertainment” last year.
Cathy is a renowned epidemiologist in the show, and that line of profession happens to be one of the crucial expertise needed at the time of a pandemic. Jack’s season 1 love interest could be “Jack Ryan” season 3’s version of Dr. Anthony Fauci if the writers and producers decided to tackle a viral pandemic as one of Jack’s main problems in the new episodes.
On the other hand, there is a good chance the writers would not choose this route for “Jack Ryan” season 3 simply because they already did it in season 1. The latter episodes of season 1 revolved around the subject of Ebola infections that the terrorists planned to use to kill the United States president.
‘Jack Ryan’ season 3 release date, cast
There is no doubt that Krasinski will return to reprise his role. Fans are looking forward to see Greer again, but the character might go through some changes after what happened in season 2. Meanwhile, the previous events have created a bond between Jack and Mike that it would not be surprising to see the latter back in “Jack Ryan” season 3.
“Jack Ryan” season 3 is expected to start filming sometime this year. That pushes its earliest possible release date to late 2021, maybe even later.
