‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 may see the death of Cersei. Lena Headey revealed that she wanted either Tyrion Lannister or Arya Stark to kill off her character eventually. Meanwhile, Maisie Williams admitted that she wanted Arya to be like the Hound in the incoming season.
Cersei’s impending death in GOT season 7 is heavily speculated considering her surprising rise to power in season 6. Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor in the series, shared his own theory about how Cersei is bound to lose her grasp on the iron throne soon enough.
According to UnrealityTV, he said, “I think in the end the Iron Throne isn’t even going to be an issue. It’s going to be wiped out in this war between fire and ice. Most people are going to end up dead.”
He added, “This is just my theory, of course, but when the majority end up dead, the Iron Throne will probably have to be melted down to use for metal. It’s going to be completely irrelevant; it’s going to be a death bed. In the end, it’s just going to be one big bloody battleground. I just don’t know how they’re going to beat the Night King when he has the power to resurrect. What do you do against that?”
Headey also expressed her pessimism over Cersei’s fate, according to the Independent. She revealed that she didn’t want Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s Jamie nor Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys to kill off Cersei from the 'Game of Thrones' series.
Instead, Headey admitted that she was waiting for “a great death” by the hands of Maisie Williams’ Arya or Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion. She added, “No one would relish [Cersei’s] death as much as [Tyrion] would.”
Meanwhile, Williams shared her thoughts on how she wanted her character to develop in the incoming season during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. She said, “I’d love for her to be a bit of a lone ranger… I’d love for her to be kind of like The Hound.”
In the preceding GOT season, Arya earned her revenge against several of her enemies including the Waif and Walder Frey. It seemed that she would be journeying North back to Winterfell and eventually reunite with her siblings Jon and Sansa.
However, Williams admitted that she would prefer not to have Arya join up with anyone else. She explained, “I don’t really want her to reunite with her family because I don’t think that they’re the same people anymore or that she’s the same person anymore. I think she’s better off on her own. I’d love for her to be alive, actually, and be her own boss.”
‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 was ordered last April 2016. It is scheduled to air on HBO some time in 2017. The American fantasy-drama based on George R. R. Martin’s bestselling series of novels ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ received critical acclaim as well as mainstream success since premiering on HBO April 2011.
